Lady Luck
The Lady Luck is a 324-foot long, 50-foot wide tanker resting in 126 feet of water, with her mast rising to approximately 60 feet below the surface. On descent, divers are welcomed by the Lady Luck logo displayed on both sides of the stack. This wreck is known as the world’s first underwater casino, featuring large-scale artwork created by artist Dennis MacDonald. The deck showcases a unique casino theme with octopus dealers, slot machines, and card-playing sea life, creating incredible photo opportunities throughout the dive. The ship’s extensive network of pipes, structures, and open areas provides excellent habitat for marine life and makes for a visually impressive dive. Be sure to visit the bridge for a panoramic view of the wreck. Due to depth and profile, this is considered an advanced dive and is best suited for experienced divers.
History: Originally built in 1967 by Wiley Manufacturing Company, the vessel—formerly known as Newtown Creek—served as a sludge tanker in New York for nearly 50 years. Commonly referred to as a “honey tanker,” it transported waste between treatment facilities for processing. The vessel was decommissioned in 2014 and later purchased by the Shipwreck Park Foundation of Pompano Beach on March 1, 2016, with support from Isle Casino Racing and the City of Pompano Beach. After being towed from New York to South Florida, the ship was intentionally sunk on July 23, 2016, creating one of the largest and most unique artificial reefs in South Florida.
