Boca Artificial is part of the outer reef system, running parallel to the shoreline like many South Florida reefs. The main ledge, which faces west, holds the highest concentration of marine life and coral growth. The ledge features an impressive undercut, with the inside structure reaching 10+ feet in height. The top edge is jagged and heavily covered with soft corals, sponges, algae, and other invertebrates, creating excellent habitat for a wide range of marine life. This site also includes a small artificial reef made up of approximately 20 Erojacks. Originally stacked about 6 feet high in a sandy depression, several were displaced by Hurricane David and later storms, scattering pieces into the surrounding sand and adding to the structure. Divers can expect to see angelfish, Bermuda chub, barracuda, lobster, and a variety of reef fish throughout the area.
